For those of you who might not have the opportunity to serve or attend the National Youth Gathering and are really hoping to partake in a mission trip this summer, there is an opportunity for high schoolers and young adults to serve for a week in June! LutheranHANDS will be traveling to McKeesport, Pennsylvania to help out with Mission on The Mon. This is the third opportunity for service offered by LutheranHANDS for the summer of 2012!

LutheranHANDS is once again going a few days early to the ELCA National Youth Gathering. Prior to the Gathering, we will be spending two full days working in Birmingham, Alabama with Hands On Nashville, Habitat for Humanity, and other local service organizations. If you are registered for the ELCA National Youth Gathering, you want to join us on this trip!

ELCA Gathering Bus Trip

Need a ride to the Gathering?

LutheranHANDS has chartered buses to take participating congregations from the Lower Susquehanna Synod to the 2012 ELCA National Youth Gathering in July. This bus trip will pick-up at various locations around Central PA on Tuesday, July 17 and transport congregations to New Orleans in time for registration on Wednesday. You will then join other Lutheran youth from across North America in celebration at the Gathering before departing for home on Sunday, July 22, arriving home on Monday. What's the best part? It's only $220 per person!

How much?
$220/person

+ other Lutheran congregations + your friends + the fun of a road trip

Airline options can be expensive, with flights ranging in price from $300 or more, plus the cost of commuting to the airport, bag fees, clearing security checks, and additional hassles.

$100 per group member deposit is due once you receive confirmation from Jason. The remaining balance of $120/person is due March 1st.

Group leaders can sign up TODAY.

4. How many seats on the bus do you need?

We are going to be strategically planning pick-up locations around the Lower Susquehanna Synod to best suit the groups. We will be publishing the times and location of your pick-up/drop-off early in 2012 as well as details surrounding the trip (e.g. getting to gathering registration, getting to your hotels, what to pack for the bus ride, etc). As with previous LutheranHANDS bus trips to New Orleans, the journey down and back will be overnight with stops for dinner, breakfast, and to use the restrooms. Make sure you pack a pillow!
